With about 200 inches of snow melt, rivers in Iron County are flowing fast making waterfall veiwing spectacular. There are 12 waterfalls in Iron County that offer you a chance to get out and enjoy some great scenery. Some are large like Superior Falls dropping 110 feet and Potato River Falls at 90 feet, but some of the smaller falls are great to see as well. Ashland Chamber Smelting update for Thursday, May 1st. The smelt fishermen tell us the smelt are still running. They remain hopeful they will run over the weekend. Smelting is all about timing. They may run great at a certain time one night and a totally different time the next night. Don’t give up! Just keep trying to net them. Chequamegon Woods to Water Relay, Sunday, May 25, 2008. This Relay starts in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest at Cable and ends on the shores of Lake Superior inside the Bay Area Civic Center in Ashland. Check out the web site at www.woodstowater.com  The relay team consists of 8 runners, with each completing three segments of approximately 5K length.
